Bottle trees are the staple of a true southern garden and you don't have to feed, water, or prune them! I absolutely love the look of cobalt blue bottle trees, but decided to get a wild hair and a few additional colors.
The story behind the bottle tree is traced backed to Africa. The story goes that the bottles would hang in the tree and attract eveil spirits when the sun glimmerred through the bottles. The evil spirits would then be trapped in the bottles .

Okay if I put a link to this post on my sidebar? It looks just perfect.
Absolutely! Sorry it took so long to get back with you - I've been on the road this week.
Love bottle trees saw one just yesterday at a local arts fair it was 10 foot tall with all kinds of bottles on it. I'll be back to visit again.
What did you use for the "trunk and branches" part of your bottle tree? I love it!
The first bottle tree I saw was in a garden in Berkeley, CA, years ago, and I have never had the nerve to create one here. But now I am tempted again.
I like your bottle tree and the photograph!
